iZigg Review

Mobile marketing or text message marketing are starting to grow in popularity immensely throughout the United States. One company that is making a hard push to be one of the best text message marketing businesses is iZigg, or are they? This iZigg review will cover some of the costs, pros and cons of utilizing the iZigg services.

iZigg is a new company offering the text message marketing product with a twist. Based in Atlanta Georgia with co-CEO’s Brian Underwood and David Liniado, iZigg has launched a product combining multi-level marketing (MLM) and a group text messaging platform. From the iZigg website there is no information on when iZigg was founded and a vast search of the Internet indicates that it was launched at some point in the summer of 2010.

The iZigg website is a simple site that is very nicely put together with videos and text messaging statistics. Surfing through the iZigg website is not always a simple task, trying to visit all of the web pages will require heavy use of the back button as links to other pages are non-existent. The iZigg site lacks pertinent key information to assist potential customers in making a purchasing decision. Within one of the iZigg videos it shows a very short background clip of how to send a message and it appears to be a simple procedure.

Here’s where the twist comes into play with the way iZigg is set-up as an MLM, it does a great job convincing this is what is needed, but gives no ability to sign up. The “contact us” page references you back to the “iZigg agent that led you to our site” and there is no support information given.

Some of the mobile marketing services and cost options for iZigg include:

mCard – Business card sent via text message.

  • $14.95 a month
  • 1 keyword

iConnect – Group text messaging service.

  • $99.95 a month
  • 2000 messages per month
  • 2 keywords

iConnectPro – Group text messaging service.

  • $249.95 a month
  • 5000 messages per month
  • 5 keywords

Aside from typical text message marketing platform, some of the pros for iZigg are their marketing abilities. They have a knack for turning something as simple as a shortcode (90210) into a selling point. Using a MLM structure to sell the iZigg products is another pro because of the sales reach it provides. The mCard feature is very innovative and does stand out in an ever cramping industry and gives an added ability for the end user.

Unfortunately for iZigg, the cons far out-weigh the pros in most of iZigg’s pros are also cons. With claims that the shortcode 90210 is the “most widely recognized, the most widely searched and therefore most valuable five digit shortcode in mobile media” and that 90210 is to the mobile media what the dot.com is to the Internet, iZigg may be setting themselves up for more skepticism. While the number 90210 may be widely recognized and searched the shortcode is just another shortcode. Also, any company making an informed decision on a group text message marketing company will quickly find out the shortcode is not the important part of the call to action and the more successful companies in the industry know that one shortcode won’t accommodate a large customer base.

Using MLM to sell the iZigg services leads to another concern, “I want to sign up, how do I do that?” Well if you were led to the iZigg website by the “most widely searched” shortcode then you have gotten nowhere. The other issue that comes up with the MLM sales platform is the cost. iZigg is priced at $0.05 per message which is average for companies in the industry that are reselling short message services. To give iZigg the ability to pay the sales people for their sales and for their down line sales the costs need to be on the high side to compensate. Comparable packages can be found for less than $0.02 per message.

On the whole, iZigg offers a unique way to sell a text message product that has been deemed the future for marketing. It is a great product and as an MLM seems to offer the ability to resell a product and make some money. As a company interested in utilizing text message marketing, iZigg is lacking the essentials to compete in an industry that is growing both in popularity and in competition. Figuring that the platform will be easy to use, iZigg is still overpriced and it seems that the support will be funneled through the down line of the MLM pyramid until it reaches a capable answer. Do your homework!

MESSAGEbuzz Review

MESSAGEbuzz was sold to Cellit text marketing review in 2011

MESSAGEbuzz is a self service, web based marketing platform for companies wishing to use the text message or SMS as a way of contacting consumers.  This Messagebuzz review provides the Messagebuzz history, as well as a review of the Messagebuzz text marketing products and services.

PLEASE NOTE: On February 18, 2011 MESSAGEbuzz was acquired by Cellit, another leading provider in the moblie marketing industry.

Little information is found about MESSSAGEbuzz both on the web and through their website.  Finding information about company founders, President, CEO, etc. and the date the company was founded proved to be unsuccessful.  Through the contact page they do list an address in St. Louis MO.

The MESSAGEbuzz website is a bit difficult to navigate because there is not a lot of links or multiple avenues to reach important information.  They do have a sitemap which makes the overall navigation much easier although some information is only found through sub-categories with no other way of finding it.  MESSAGEbuzz includes a lot of statistics about SMS text messaging (almost all with sources) and also have a clever video with some interviews of potential consumers.

Messagebuzz has two text message marketing plan packages that they offer along with a plan that is designed for specific companies.  The two mobile marketing plans consist of:

  • Self Service Mobile Marketing
    • Messages are 5 cents per message
    • 5 keywords
    • $99 per month
    • $75 set-up fee
  • No Limits
    • Messages are 4 cents a message
    • Unlimited keywords
    • $180 per month
    • $500 set-up fee

MESSAGEbuzz offers more for companies that wish for a more specialized campaign. The message cost would be 4 cents per message and monthly fees as well as set-up fees are per SMS marketing campaign.

Support for MESSAGEbuzz looks extensive with contact by both phone and email and videos for self service support.  The major drawback to the MESSAGEbuzz support is, it’s only offered to the No Limits package and the Self Service package is charged $125 per hour for support.

Overall, MESSAGEbuzz is on the highest side of pricing compared to the many other bulk text messaging companies in the industry. Their plan packages and set-up fees are well above industry average.  MESSAGEbuzz states on their pricing page that, “Our pricing table is below, but we would recommend not making your decision based on price alone. Check our Customer Comments before you make your final decision”.  We agree in that the cost should not be the decision maker but to be able to overlook the excessively high costs the benefits should reach far beyond what the peers are offering at a much lower cost.

The ease of using the MESSAGEbuzz web based platform would seem to be complicated based off of their website.  There are some program issues (contact us page) and some misspellings on the site and the difficulties navigating it lead this belief.  Support is a shining spot for Messagebuzz with several ways of accessing it, however, this is more costly dependant upon the SMS marketing package you choose.  Unfortunately, the few customer comments are not enough to compensate for the industry high costs and potential time loss and hassles that can occur from the MESSAGEbuzz platform.

84444.com Review

84444.com is a do-it-yourself mobile marketing company. Promotxt and Txtlaunchpad are run by 84444 and they offer the same type of text message marketing. This 84444.com review article will review 84444.com’s mobile marketing services as well as Promotxt and Txtlaunchpad.

Advanced Telecom Service is the parent company for all three text message marketing providers. Promotxt and Txtlaunchpad have very limited websites that direct you to upgrade to 84444.com. Their offices are located in Wayne Pennsylvania and Austin Texas. The 84444 website states, [they have] “evolved from over five years of experience in the mobile marketing space” although there is no indication as to when the site was updated.

Because both Promotxt and Txtlaunchpad are directing you to 84444.com, the website information will be focused on 84444. It is an updated design that is very easily navigated and contains the appropriate decision-making information. They have different types of SMS marketing platforms including:

• Text Interactive
• Text Broadcast
• Text Contest
• Text Vote

The costs are slightly different for Promotxt and Txtlaunchpad but again because they are directing you to upgrade to 84444.com the SMS (short message service) text messaging packages focused on will be what 84444 offers. Here are  few key features of three of the five different 84444 text message marketing plans:

• Bronze
o 1000 text messages per month
o 1 keyword
o $79 a month
• Gold
o 5000 text messages per month
o 5 keywords
o $229 a month
• Diamond
o 10000 text messages per month
o 10 keywords
o $399 a month

The Promotxt and Txtlaunchpad are both quite a bit higher on their text message marketing packages and any visitors to those sites should click the link to 84444.com to save themselves costs.

There is a direct link for live help support and through the 84444.com  “contacts us” page.  They also provide an email and phone support. The live help option is limited to 9am – 5:30pm EST and definitely sets them apart from the SMS text message marketing  industry standard in the support department.

Altogether, 84444.com is a well put together text message marketing company. They have an easy to use website that translates into an easy to use web based mobile marketing platform, their support system is very capable and the costs, although slightly higher than industry average, are warranted.

WHAMmobile Review

WHAMmobile is a web based mobile marketing service that allows you to send text message campaigns to reach your customers. This article is a review of Whammobile.

WHAMmobile was founded in 2005 and the business is based in Houston area of Texas. Their website is full of information about different types of mobile marketing included statistics of mobile uses (both with and without sources). They have a wide variety of clients and claim they will work with Fortune 500 companies to online stores.

From the their website there is not a focus on any features or benefits that Whammobile possesses to set it aside from the many other companies within the industry. There is clearly a benefit to text message marketing in lieu of email, direct mail, newspaper and cold calling and that is the features and benefits that their website is focused on.

There are three different packages that Wham mobile has accompanying their enterprise package.

The WHAMmobile small business packages are as follows:

• Basic Package
o 500 messages per month
o 1 keyword is included
o $69.00 a month
• Pro Package
o 1000 messages per month
o 1 keyword is included
o $89.00 a month
• Plus Package
o 5000 messages per month
o 1 keyword is included
o $289.00 a month

In addition to their packages there are some fees that can be levied for:

• $75 set-up fee (1 time charge)
• $50 additional keyword (unclear as to 1 time or monthly charge)
• $75 weekly reporting (unclear as to 1 time or monthly charge)

WHAMmobile offers both phone and email support however there is no clear direction to get to a support page. You can only find the support information through their “contact us” tab.

The WHAMmobile site is relatively easy to navigate so their web based service may also be manageable for the client as well.

When weighing the pros and cons for WHAMmobile, there doesn’t seem to be a lot to set them aside from their peers in the industry. The set-up fee of $75 is over industry average, they don’t seem to have any features that differentiate them from the many other companies and their package costs are also over the industry average. Reporting for most all of the industry is part of the platform so the $75 is excessive (whether one time or monthly). They do have multiple ways of supporting their service for their clients and going off the ease of use of their website, their platform for text message campaigns should be manageable.

MobileStorm Review

Mobile text marketing is a very effective way to market your business.  You can step up your SMS marketing efforts with help from mobileStorm. This MobileStorm review offers information on MobileStorm text message services.

If you want to become involved in the next generation of marketing, it is vital that you consider the benefits of short message service (SMS) marketing. SMS  text message marketing makes use of the popular communication form known as the text message. This is a way of sending messages to cell phones. These text messages are usually short and to the point. And with millions of people using cell phones, using text messages to reach potential customers makes sense.

Advantages of SMS Marketing

There are a number of advantages associated with SMS text marketing. Some of these advantages include the following:

  • Most people read their text messages. With email, your marketing material can be sent straight to the junk folder. There is no junk folder on a cell phone.
  • You can reach customers immediately.
  • A text message can encourage an action, such as telling them to text a code to you in order to get a discount. This encourages an immediate response.
  • Text messages are flexible and customizable.
  • It is possible to target SMS text marketing to specific people on your list.
  • Text message marketing is often quite affordable.

People are looking for more personal ways to interact with technology. If you want to reach more customers and increase your ROI, it is important to recognize the growing place that mobility has in our society. Text message marketing is likely to be a big part of that. A number of companies are emerging that can help you reach potential customers through SMS text marketing. One of these SMS text message providers is mobileStorm.

Bottom Line

If you are looking for a text message marketing company that can provide you with all-in-one mobile marketing, along with your SMS marketing, you might consider mobileStorm. This SMS provider has a wide range of packages to fit a variety of needs and budgets, and the long standing nature of the company, and its expertise in the field, means that it is likely to be able to help you when you need it. However, before committing to mobileStorm — or any SMS text message marketing provider — it is a good idea to compare text message marketing prices and packages, and ensure that you are getting the best deal for your company.

text2vip Review

text2vip is a short message service (SMS) and mobile marketing service.  This service states it is a “full service” text message provider that “takes the tech out of a high tech solution”.  This article will review text2vip.

In visiting text2vip online the first thoughts are that the site has a nice design.  Once on the home page, there is a flash player showing a couple of text examples and a short video about text message marketing.  Upon further review, there is an extreme lack of information available through the website.  When perusing a site, too much information can be a deterrent to readers, however, when looking into purchasing a service or product, access to important information is a necessity. Some of the important information that the text2vip website lacks:

  • Price
  • Company information (about us)
  • Features
  • Support information
  • Login information

Before making a decision on whether or not to go with any text message marketing company these bullet points must be addressed and the lack of access to this information through the text2vip website is worrisome.  What started out as a nicely designed website was reduced to a phone number because of the lack of information.

What little information I could obtain from their website was found in the short list of frequently asked questions.  Unfortunately for the shopper, the real questions anyone shopping would ask are not addressed there either.  For a self proclaimed “full service text message provider” that states “why go it alone”, would anyone would want text2vip in charge of assisting them in a marketing campaign when its own website leaves so much to be desired in that category.

There were some pros to the service found in the limited information available.  There is a link on the site that offers, first month free if you sign up through the website.  In addition, the site states (once again in the frequently asked questions) that there is no contract and any subscribers will be on a month-to-month status.  Watching the video on the home page, it gives some nice statistics about conventional marketing and text message marketing (no evidence or sources provided) and states that text2vip will help assist with signage.

In conclusion, the lack of important information available to make a decision is a deterrent to even call for more information.  Again, who would purchase a marketing service from a company that lacks in the ability to market its own product.

Clubtexting Review

Clubtexting is a web based text message short message service (SMS) marketing, and bulk SMS, messaging service. The service is designed to assist companies with marketing campaigns through text messages.  This review will cover some of the features and costs affiliated with Clubtexting.

Clubtexting is a member of the Mobile Marketing Association and works with all major carriers both in the United States and in Canada. Clubtexting is also recognized by the Better Business Bureau with an A rating for length of time business has been operating.  They started their operations early in 2006 and are based out of New York, NY.

The website for Clubtexting is a little cluttered and not as easy to navigate as most similar sites, but does contain lots of pertinent information about Clubtexting itself and SMS text message marketing.  Some of the features that their services provide:

  • Bluetooth Proximity Marketing
  • Message Forwarding
  • Picture Attachments
  • Voice Broadcast Messaging
  • Web Signup Widget

There are several different packages and pricing platforms for Clubtexting. Here are some of the packages they have:

  • Pay & Go
    • The cost for Pay & Go is 5 cents per message and $25 per month for your keyword.
    • Total messages included = 0
    • Total cost = $25+ a month
  • Lite
    • 600 express messages per month for $25 in addition to $25 per month for your keyword.
    • Total messages included = 600
    • Total cost = $50 a month
  • Basic
    • 1000 express messages per month for $50 and your keyword is included.
    • Total messages included = 1000
    • Total cost = $50 a month
  • Elite
    • 3000 express messages per month for $150 and 4 keywords are included.
    • Total messages included = 3000
    • Total cost = $150 a month

In addition to these plans, Clubtexting also offers plans up to 50000 express messages for $1800 a month.  They also offer support for their customers by email and phone.

While Clubtexting prices are slightly below the industry average and they offer multiple avenues for support, the navigation on their web page is troublesome.  This is a self service form of marketing and the difficulties navigating the website leads me to believe their web based program will not be without burdens.  This could lead to costly time spent in setting up mobile marketing campaigns and dealing with support.  In this case the hassles that could be spent on scheduling campaigns needs to be weighed with the pros before making a decision on going with Clubtexting for your text messaging marketing.

Mobile SMS Marketing Review

Mobile SMS Marketing is an SMS text message marketing provider for sending bulk SMS messages that also offers reseller and affiliate programs. This review of Mobile SMS Marketing discusses some of the features of Mobile SMS Marketing’s services.

Mobile SMS Marketing provides bulk SMS text messages directly to its own customers as well as through its resellers. It works with many major wireless service providers, including:

  • Alltel
  • AT&T
  • Boost
  • Cellular One
  • Nextel
  • Sprint
  • T-Mobile
  • US Cellular
  • Verizon
  • Virgin Mobile

An account with Mobile SMS Marketing gives its customers access to an online portal for sending SMS text messages and Mobile SMS Marketing’s short code, which is 41513. Each customer gets one or more keywords that their customers can use to sign up for or respond to SMS text message marketing campaigns. The online portal also includes tools for managing groups and keywords and for tracking statistics.

Mobile SMS Marketing’s services start at $149 per month, which includes 1 keyword and 50 SMS text messages. If a customer pays for 3 months at a time, they pay $129 per month, and if they pay for six months at a time, the price drops to $99 per month. Additional keywords or text messages cost extra. Mobile SMS Marketing specializes in bulk messages, and they offer volume discounts on their text messages.

  • 500 messages cost $50, or 10 cents per message
  • 1000 messages cost $90, or 9 cents per message
  • 2500 messages cost $212.50, or 8.5 cents per message
  • 5000 messages cost $400, or 8 cents per message
  • 10,000 messages cost $750, or 7.5 cents per message
  • 50,000 messages cost $3,250, or 6.5 cents per message
  • 100,000 messages cost $6,000, or 6 cents per message

These prices refer to accounts set up directly through Mobile SMS Marketing. Mobile SMS Marketing’s short message service resellers may have different pricing structures. There is also a $150 account set up fee with Mobile SMS Marketing, though this may be waived in some instances.

Other features of Mobile SMS Marketing that may be of interest to their customers are their affiliate, reseller, and white label programs. With the affiliate program, a customer can become an affiliate and direct other potential customers to Mobile SMS Marketing through an affiliate web link. If those potential customers make a purchase after clicking through on the affiliate’s web link, the affiliate gets a 30% commission on the sale, with an additional 10% on text message sales. Also, if an affiliate enrolls another affiliate, they get an extra 5% commission from that affiliate’s sales.

The reseller or white label program allows a reseller to purchase text messaging services from Mobile SMS Marketing and then resell those services under their own brand. White label refers to the idea that the product comes with a blank label that the reseller can fill in to customize their reseller services to a particular market. Resellers set their own prices, market their text messaging product, and handle customer service while using the Mobile SMS Marketing short code and platform to conduct their business. The white label program also allows larger corporations to use their own dedicated short code with Mobile SMS Marketing’s text messaging platform.

Though no experience is required to become a reseller or affiliate, customers may be more successful in these endeavors if they first get some experience with the company and product. Customers who are interested in using a Mobile SMS Marketing reseller’s services should make sure the reseller has a good reputation for customer service and a price that fits their budget.

ExpressText Review

ExpressText is an Internet-based SMS text message service provider for customers who want to create bulk SMS text message marketing campaigns. This ExpressText review discusses some of the features and packages offered by ExpressText.

ExpressText is a large SMS text messaging provider of bulk SMS text messages. They work with all of the major, and most minor, wireless service providers in the United States, and their customers include well known companies like McDonalds, BMW, Harley-Davidson, and H&R Block.

ExpressText allows its customers to set up an Internet-based SMS account, which means that they can send SMS text messages from any computer that has an Internet connection. Their customers just have to set up their account, create a group to receive the messages, add the contact information for the members of the group, and then send messages. ExpressText also offers a scheduling feature so their customers can create messages to be sent at a later time. This allows busy companies to create their messages and decide when they want to sent them, then focus on other things, knowing that their messages will go out when they are supposed to. If a need arises, the company can also send last-minute texts, such as if there is a schedule change or other breaking news or deals they want to share.

ExpressText functions as a shared short code provider, so each of ExpressText’s customers has one or more keywords that their customers use to respond to their messages. For instance, a Mexican restaurant might choose the keyword SALSA. They would ask their customers to text the keyword SALSA to 44256, which is ExpressText’s short code, to sign up for SMS text alerts. A bridal boutique, on the other hand, might choose the keyword BRIDE, so their customers would text BRIDE to 44256 to get on their SMS text message list. This allows ExpressText to host multiple accounts on the same short code, and saves the businesses money because they do not have to rent their own short code.

Express Text offers several packages to fit the needs of a variety of businesses and organizations:

  • Pay As You Go – 1 free keyword and 100 free credits, with additional text messages for 3 cents each
  • Starter – $25 per month for 1 keyword and 900 text messages, with additional messages for 2.75 cents
  • Business – $49 per month for 2 keywords and 1900 text messages, with additional messages for 2.5 cents
  • Premier – $149 per month for 3 keywords and 7450 text messages, with additional messages for 2 cents
  • Bronze – $350 per month for 5 keywords and 20,000 text messages, with additional messages for 1.75 cents
  • Silver – $750 per month for 10 keywords and 50,000 text messages, with additional messages for 1.75 cents
  • Gold – $1000 per month for 15 keywords and 80,000 text messages, with additional messages for 1.5 cents
  • Platinum – $1500 per month for 20 keywords and 100,000 text messages, with additional messages for 1.5 cents

The monthly text messages in ExpressText packages do not roll over from month to month, though the one time 100 free credits with the Pay As You Go package do roll over. All of the plans come with tools to help ExpressText customers manage their accounts online.

It is free to set up an account with ExpressText and they do not require a contract. They also offer a 30-day money back guarantee on their services. ExpressText customers can change plans at any time. ExpressText’s main customer support is through email, though they also have a phone number that their customers can call. They also offer some online video tutorials to help answer common mobile marketing questions.

Clickatell Review

Clickatell is one of the few well-established names in the SMS text message service provider business. This Clickatell review will highlight some of the features of Clickatell, as well as potential pros and cons of using Clickatell.

Clickatell is an large, international provider of SMS text messaging services, with several SMS text messaging products available for various business and personal needs. Founded in South Africa in 2000, Clickatell is currently headquartered in California. Clickatell has won numerous mobile industry awards, including the Best Value award from the Mobile Industry Review in 2008 and a 2009 award from the Mobile Marketing Association, of which Clickatell is a member. Clickatell also has numerous well-known clients, including CNN and Christie’s auction house, and has been involved in SMS text message campaigns for US President Barack Obama.

Clickatell is not necessarily the best fit for every business, so it is important to know some of the pros and cons of using Clickatell. Clickatell’s policies and services vary by country. This review focuses on Clickatell’s SMS text message services for companies in the United States.

Clickatell is a Better Business Bureau accredited business, with an A+ rating and very few reported complaints. Many of the complaints that customers have made about Clickatell are about slow customer service or difficulty setting up their accounts.

Clickatell’s SMS text message service is based on credits, and it costs a different number of credits to send text messages depending on where the messages are being sent.  It costs one credit, or  about 6.1 cents per message, to send SMS text messages within the United States. The cost of credits decreases when they are purchased in bundles. The cost of sending text messages to other countries varies, but in most cases it is the same or cheaper than messages sent within the United States. For instance, it costs 1/3 of a credit, or 2 cents per message, to send bulk SMS text messages to India. It also costs 1/3 of a credit, or 2 cents, to receive incoming SMS text messages.

Clickatell offers three basic bulk SMS text messaging services:

  • Clickatell Gateway is a web-based SMS text messaging platform that allows businesses to send bulk SMS text messages. This program is recommended for sending 10,000 or more SMS text messages.
  • Communicator 2 is a web-based SMS platform that allows businesses to send and receive SMS text messages. This program is recommended for sending fewer than 10,000 text messages.
  • Messenger-PRO is a software program that allows businesses to send SMS text messages from their computer over their Internet connection without opening a browser window or logging on to a web site. The disadvantage of this is that the program is tied to the specific computer on which it is installed. It is recommended for sending 2.500 to 4,500 messages per month.

These programs are all free to set up and come with 5 or 10 free credits. Once those credits are gone, the user must purchase credits to continue sending SMS text messages.

Clickatell also offers services that send automatic messages when a triggering event occurs, such as sending notifications when a system goes down.

Some of Clickatell’s bulk SMS messaging services require users to rent a dedicated short code. Clickatell will help businesses rent their own dedicated short code. They charge a $1700 set up fee, with additional charges for being able to send messages to T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, and Sprint Nextel and Boost. Once the short code is set up, it costs a company $900 per month to rent their short code, or $1400 for a vanity short code. This is more than a business would pay if it rented a dedicated short code on its own through the Common Short Code Administration, and businesses can also use their own short code with Clickatell’s services. Though renting a short code is a significant investment, it does provide the advantage of having a dedicated short code that belongs solely to the business renting it.

Clickatell sponsors a short message service reseller or white label program, which allows businesses to purchase large numbers of credits and sell them under their own business’s label or brand. The reseller is responsible for customer service, sales, and billing, while Clickatell manages the technical side of providing the SMS text message service. Potential customers may be interested in becoming a reseller, or in doing business with a reseller instead of directly with Clickatell if the reseller can offer them a better deal. Also, if a customer joins Clickatell’s affiliate program they can get a commission from any sales made based on their referrals.
